We created this spline joined tray frame in sapele with an arched top and subtle shaped droplet inclusion at the bottom edge. With sapele interior, and shaped ply subframe with split batten hanging system.

Framing of three original silver gelatin prints from the 1946 series Dark Meadow, a choreography by Martha Graham set to sculpture by Noguchi.

The photographs were float mounted over unbuffered white museum board, held by discrete mylar corners, and box framed in black stained maple, glazed with Optium museum acrylic.

Conservation mounting and box framing of various works on paper supporting the conception and execution of sculptural works, and some as entirely stand-alone pieces. Some of which created at the early part of Rugg’s career in the 1960s and others as recent as 2010.
With float mounting chosen to suit each particular paper, and splined maple box frames hardly larger that the works themselves. Displayed alongside companion sculptures where relevant.

Tray frames for monochrome ink and acylic on Japanese kozo paper on board, some works on canvas, and float mounted box frames for watercolours on paper.
Unique frames chosen carefully to resonate with each painitng, meanwhile exploring the influence of different materials on the tensions and cohesion of the group of work as a whole. Including spray finished white lacquer, splined black walnut, limed maple, and mirror polished welded stainless steel.

Framing conceptualised with the curators and the artist to consist of three distinct materials, all custom-sized tray frames in maple, walnut, and a group of artist-specified colours. Artworks all mounted into frames on a barrier of conservation quality mountboard and secured using stainless dress-maker's pins.

Also some works on paper float mounted to box frames in spray finished artist-selected colours with matching interiors and anti-reflective glass offering UV protection.

Deep shadow box frames in black stained ash. Artwork consisting of pressed flowers mounted to and sandwiched between two pieces of anti-reflective glass with deep set-back mount board interior to accentuate relief and shadow effect.
